Openflow allows for controllers to program flow monitors in OVS / OpenFlow switch to keep track of changes happening to the flow table entries. Multiple of these flow monitors can be dynamically added, removed or modified by the controller to keep track of changes in all or a subset of flow entries. This can be useful in some use cases like auditing the flow entries between controller and OpenFlow switch or getting information about flow entries programmed by other controllers.
