OVN by default uses Geneve encapsulation to encapsulate traffic between hypervisors on an overlay network. However, in some cases, use of Geneve is not desired. In this talk, we'll discuss why Geneve is sometimes not desired. We'll go over what facilities OVN currently has to prevent encapsulation, and we'll discuss potential future improvements to OVN to expand on the cases where encapsulation can be avoided.
